District 423 Christopher D. Duggan (IN) is up for re-election 2024. Prior to his election to the court in 2008, Duggan was a prosecutor and worked as a briefing attorney for the Eastland Court of Appeals. Judge Duggan received a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin in 1986. He received his juris doctorate degree from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1989. After graduating from law school, Judge Duggan started his legal career as a briefing attorney for the Eleventh [Circuit] Court of Appeals in Eastland, Texas. He then became a prosecutor in Travis County, Texas for the next 18½ years. He was elected to the 423rd District Court bench in November, 2008. Judge Duggan will be proudly serving the citizens of Bastrop County for his fourth term beginning January of 2021.District Courts are the trial courts of general jurisdiction in the State of Texas. District Courts have original jurisdiction in cases involving matters such as felony criminal, divorce, real property, election contest, civil matters where damages exceed $200.00, and any other matters brought properly before the Court. While some District Courts serve multiple counties, the 423rd District Court only hears matters that arise within Bastrop County.  Judge Duggan hears all matters that come properly before the 423rd District Court in Bastrop County. Judge Duggan also presides over weddings.
